In 2025, SeeD began its first project in Burundi through Dukire Twubake – To Heal, To Rebuild (Phase II). The project aims to strengthen reconciliation, social inclusion, economic participation, and civic engagement through a holistic, community-based approach.

Building on tools developed during Phase I, the project focuses on formalising and systematising a comprehensive protocol that brings together community psychosocial support, leadership and advocacy training, entrepreneurship, and collective economic initiatives. The approach is designed to support women, youth, and marginalised groups by addressing both psychosocial needs and practical pathways for participation and livelihoods.

SeeD’s role contributes to the project’s learning, evidence, and protocol development components, helping partners consolidate what has been developed so far into a more structured and scalable model. Through this work, SeeD is supporting efforts to connect healing and reconciliation with civic and economic inclusion at the community level.

The project is currently ongoing and marks an important step in SeeD’s engagement in Burundi, extending its work on social cohesion, reconciliation, and community resilience into a new country context.
